Synopsis

Chinese American intercultural author and filmmaker J.J. Cheng travels from Beijing to the vast inner land of China in searach of her ancestral roots that’s  long been hidden away from her. From Wuyuan, known as the confucian scholar’s town  in the ancient Huizhou, the birthplace of J.J’s  grandfahter Cheng Zhen Jun,  to Huang Zhou, the cradle of China’s first expo, the West Lake Expo , which Cheng cofounded; From to Anqing, a eclectic city by the Yangtze River where Cheng, as a young man, took his first lesson of English from Yan Fu, one of China’s first quitessential minds introducing western enlightment to China, to Shexian, the beginning of Huang Hui Highway that Cheng masterplanned and gave his life for; The quest for truth culminated when J.J. discovered the remains of Cheng Family Tomb in Wuxi. Suddenly, the spirit of Cheng came alive… so is J.J.’s passionate call for  a  well-informed digified life free from historical amnesia and control.

旅美華人跨文化作家影人程一若的中華尋根之旅追隨民國先驅程振鈞祖父生死足跡一路發現。從北京到程族祖居程振鈞出生地徽州儒鄉婺源，再到長江邊上西風東漸的安慶程聆聽一代恩師嚴復西方科學啟蒙，再到程全面籌劃操辦的首屆西湖博覽會發源地杭州，再到三陽歙縣徽杭公路的起點 ；影人執著尋找幾近消失甚至埋沒的歷史記憶，步步充滿艱辛和轉折，或許是祖父英靈感召，在無錫惠山無盡的原野上，一對被砍伐遺棄的石碑墓聯終於現世…程的家族精神頓然顯現…
